Hey hey, anyway, I was looking around reddit, basically, just to find some good SaaS that have potential to DM them and promise them the ever loving lead gen without lifting a finger. Long story short, I stumbled upon this box management SaaS that looked ridiculously useful and ridiculously simple to use. It looked nice. How much did he charge?
$5/mo? $3/mo? $0.99/mo? Nope. It was free to use and it solved a real damn painful problem. So my marketing mind couldn't stop about thinking of ways to monitize that app without ruining the free experience of the users:
1 I though about ads as revenue but it felt like it would ruon the experience for his users.
2 I thought about affiliates, it could work, but he needs to segment his audience based on intrests, jobs, etc just to know which is which and which would be interested in this. It can ruin his onboarding experience if he asked these questions
3 I thought about selling stuff: Since his audience is about organizing stuff, it means they buy more stuff so if he started an ecom store and just linked it to his app where his active users sees it? It could work. But would require management, unless he wants to
4 I thought about growing a fan base: instead of trying to make money out of that, he can create a social media audience using that free app and get paid from content creation or he can start his own merch since he have an audience now. He can start partnerships and sponsorships since he have an audience now. Basically, building a fan base opens multiple doors
5 And I also though about selling it: if he grows it to the extreme, 100% someone will try to buy it. Napster was free and got shut down but just bcs it had 80M active users in the early 2000 it got resold multiple times and made around $108M being resold and never made a single dollar from the software itself.
So why in the actual fck are ppl not doing this? Why aren't they building an audience?
"Oh, I have a cool idea, make an AI wrapper and sell it to cancer patients and charge them a monthly payment"
Not everything needs to be AI or to have a sub on it. Not even being monitzed at all. If you're in the game just for the money then you've already lost. Making money comes after you confirm that what you offer is good enough for people to use it. And u have 1M ways of monetizing beyond subs.
