Using ChatGPT for brainstorming

I find this trend genuinely funny.

A lot of people now go to ChatGPT to brainstorm a startup idea, vibe-code it, ship in 10 to 30 days, and then discover there are already 10 to 35 near-identical apps with identical color themes, design and features sitting in the Apple App Store 😂

This is not because ChatGPT failed them. It is because many people misunderstand what LLMs actually do.

ChatGPT does not generate new ideas in the human sense. It learns from existing data and predicts the most likely next output based on your prompt. You can think of it as a very advanced calculator for probability. When you ask it for an app idea, it naturally converges toward ideas that many others have already explored.

That is why the ideas feel familiar. That is also why the space feels crowded so quickly.

Do not get discouraged. ChatGPT is an excellent tool for brainstorming and execution. Just do not take the first idea it gives you 😂 or even the twentieth. Be creative. Pay attention to what you care about, what annoys you, and what genuinely excites you.

Then use ChatGPT to help you build something that could truly resonate with people like you.
