I built a dynamic QR code generator, but without subscription traps

Hi everyone,

I wanted to do this project a few years ago, but only recently I'm able to make it live.

The idea came from, while looking into different QR tools, I kept seeing the same kind of complaint from people. Someone would generate a QR code, print it on menus, flyers, packaging, or posters… and then sometime later the QR would just stop working.

Usually it turned out the service had suspended it or locked the destination unless you upgraded to a paid plan. At that point the person is kind of stuck, the QR code is already printed everywhere, so the only way to fix it is to start paying.

So I started building my own tool with a simple idea in mind: if someone prints a QR code, it shouldn't suddenly stop working just because they didn't upgrade.

Right now it supports things like:

  • Dynamic QR codes (actually it means the QR will point to a managed domain)
  • Scan analytics
  • Simple micro landing page builder
  • A small form builder to collect information (emails, feedback, etc.)
  • Customizable QR styles
  • No fancy AI features, no vibe-coding, but my serious focusing work.

I also haven't enabled billing yet. Honestly, I feel like I should only start charging once I'm confident the product is actually good enough. If people eventually pay for it, I want that to be because they genuinely like using it, not because they feel forced into it (trap them by suspending their QR).

If anyone here has experience using QR codes in real-world situations (marketing, restaurants, events, packaging, etc...), please give it a try, I'd really love to hear your thoughts.
