Finally I"m Announcing my 2nd product as FAILED

I'm publicly announcing encryptedclipboard.app as my first FAILED product after spending more than a YEAR on it

either the product itself was a bad idea, or I am NOT the right person for this type of product at all

i really loved working on this project and shipping new features to it, but, even though my first product easylocalstorage.dev got 2 yearly paying users, and more than 150 registered users

this one never crossed the number 50 even after a year, so, I'm literally exhausted for this product, and, I think it's time to admit it and abandon this product completely

here's what I learned along the way building this product over those many months

  1. people NEVER cares about their privacy in actual as much as they SHOUT
  2. people really never cared about Open Source projects because they're open source, they care about that because that's FREE, only a few care about the actual value of open source, which is transparency
  3. never build privacy focused product, you'll die convincing people and yet people gonna believe any product with hundreds of pages long privacy policy pages without even reading a line ever, but not gonna use yours even if you literally show them the source code on github
  4. NEVER build just because you love it, that's not gonna pay your bills
  5. building shit is even better than a good product if people buy that, so, find those shits
  6. don't spend more than a month or two on a product, you're gonna just waste that entire time, at least in this Vibe Coding era
