I've been building small SaaS projects for a while now, and most of them never really went anywhere. Some didn't get finished, others launched but barely got any traffic. A few months ago, I decided to focus on one product instead of constantly chasing new ideas. Built a simple tool, launched it, and started experimenting with SEO and organic traffic.
Yesterday I finally got my first paying customer. It's not a lot of money, but seeing someone actually willing to pay for something I built feels completely different from getting signups or positive feedback. The funny thing is, I spent so much time thinking about features and improving the product that I probably didn't spend enough time getting it in front of people.
For those of you who have built SaaS products, how long did it take to get your first paying customer? And what actually worked for you in getting from that first customer to your first 10?
Curious whether SEO, Reddit, direct outreach, or something else made the biggest difference.
